Caramels

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1/8 tsp. of salt
  • 2 1/4 cups of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of light corn syrup
  • 1 14 oz. can of Eagle Brand milk
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla

Instructions

  1. In sauce pan melt butter. Stir in sugar and salt. Add syrup and mix well.
  2. Add milk; stir constantly, continue stirring and cook to 234 degrees on candy thermometer.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  4. Pour into 11x7 inch buttered pan.
  5. When cool, cut into squares.
  6. Wrap in waxed paper squares. Use scissors or a pizza cutter and you have to tape the waxed paper closed.
