Ingredients

  • 1 cup of raisins
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. of nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 tsp. of soda
  • 1/2 cup of chopped nuts
  • 2 cups of flour

Instructions

  1. Boil the following until water is 1/2 gone: 1 cup of raisins and 1 cup of water.
  2. Mix: 1/2 cup shortening, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. of nutmeg, 1/2 tsp. ground cloves, and 1 tsp. of soda.
  3. Add raisins and water to mixture, then stir in 1/2 cup of chopped nuts and 2 cups of flour.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes in a greased and floured pan.
  5. Frost while warm with the following: 3 Tbs. of margarine, 2 cups of powdered sugar, a little milk, and 1 Tbs. of lemon juice.
