Mexican Wedding Cakes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of butter
  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups of sifted flour
  • 1 cup of nuts (chopped fine)

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar, butter, add vanilla.
  2. Stir in flour, salt & nuts.
  3. Mix with hands.
  4. Shape into balls or crescent shapes.
  5. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
  6. Roll in powdered sugar while still warm.
  7. Bonnie Lou adds colored sugar for the different holidays: red/green for Christmas, red for Valentines, pink/blue/yellow for Easter.
